Energy Vampires

This is for the Blog Action Day on the enviroment. The idea came from ucsusa.org . There are some good practical tips for energy saving on on their site. I didn't know until quite recently how much electricity we waste just by leaving things plugged in, even when they are switched off !
So if you're not using an appliance, unplug it or use power strips with a switch.

I can honestly call myself an energy vampire. I'm very guilty of leaving things plugged in. You've shamed me now :) It's something small but I can make an effort with it.

Brilliant, they say a picture is worth a thousand words this one is worth a lot more, very creative, very clever and very emotive!

Thanks for this post on Blog Action Day!

The debate about leaving things plugged in rages on. I have researched it and can't really come to any conclusion. Some things seem to use virtually no power on standby, others use a surprisingly large amount.

The tip about the power strips with the on/off switch is a good one.

So by plugging in, it's still consuming power? But doesn't all the switching on and off cause greater energy to be used?
